Empathize
Students will experience a wellness-focused project launch, learn how body systems and daily habits connect to focus and functioning, and gather first-round empathy evidence from their own observations, class patterns, and community experts to begin shaping trustworthy health questions.
Days 1 - 3
Define
Students will analyze early habit data, class patterns, and vetted wellness evidence to define a focused problem for seventh graders. They will trace how habits affect interacting body systems, compare trustworthy and questionable health claims, and turn evidence into a revised How Might We statement for a school wellness campaign.
Days 4 - 6
Ideate
Students will use their habit data, class patterns, and vetted expert guidance to generate many possible wellness campaign ideas, test assumptions against evidence, and select one promising direction for a team prototype.
Days 7 - 10
Draft
Students will use class habit patterns, vetted health evidence, and earlier problem statements to build first-draft wellness campaign artifacts, including comparative data art, data story posters, and booth components. They will strengthen scientific explanations about interacting body systems, connect habit choices to environmental impact, and revise draft messages through structured peer critique and weekly reflection.
Days 11 - 15
Test
Students will test their wellness campaign drafts and comparative data art with peers and community partners, collect evidence-based feedback, revise claims and visuals, and document how user responses shape stronger health messages for seventh graders.
Days 16 - 19
Critique
Students will use structured critique protocols, evidence checks, and revision planning to strengthen their wellness campaign booth materials, comparative data art, and data story claims before the final reflection phase.
Days 20 - 22
Notice & Reflect
Students will synthesize evidence from their habit trackers, class patterns, expert feedback, and prototype testing to present final wellness claims, document how their thinking changed, and identify practical next steps for themselves and their school community.
Days 23 - 25
