Students will launch the lettuce investigation by closely observing real plants, starting a science journal with labeled drawings, and using a community conversation to connect plant growth to healthy food choices and questions they will investigate next.

Students will investigate a lettuce-growing puzzle, sort what they notice from what they wonder, and co-create a simple question, prediction, and observation plan for the next phase of evidence collection. They will use Leaf Detective Lab tools, shared talk, drawings, and partner feedback to strengthen how they record plant parts, growth changes, daily needs, and healthy-choice connections in their journals.

Students will carry out repeated lettuce observations, record visible changes and daily care evidence in their notebooks, use partner feedback to revise labels and drawings, and begin organizing evidence they will later use for the class lettuce growth book and healthy choices explanation.

Students will analyze their lettuce evidence, organize growth stages and plant needs into clear explanations, compare classroom findings with school-grown lettuce, revise pages for a class lettuce growth book, and prepare short evidence-based talks for the showcase.

Students will share their lettuce investigation findings with an authentic audience, explain evidence from their plants and growth journals, connect growing lettuce to healthy food choices, and complete a final labeled journal page and reflection for the class lettuce growth book.
