Launch
Launch
Students will launch the animal research project by closely observing mystery habitat clues, asking researchable questions about how animals survive, and beginning an Animal Habitat Research Notebook that will guide later research, writing, and creation of a diorama, Google Slides show, or poster for the student gallery.
Days 1 - 2
Research & Plan
Research & Plan
Students will use teacher-approved books, videos, and zoo resources to gather evidence about an animalβs body parts, behaviors, and habitat needs; organize notes in words and labeled drawings; and create a clear research plan and quality checklist for a diorama and presentation.
Days 8 - 12
Build & Document
Build & Document
Students will verify research evidence, document accurate notes and labeled sketches, and build a habitat diorama that shows how an animalβs body parts and behaviors help it survive. They will use peer and teacher feedback to improve the clarity, completeness, and traceability of their evidence before moving into final analysis and presentation work.
Days 13 - 17
Analyze & Showcase
Analyze & Showcase
Students will analyze the animal evidence they gathered, turn notes into clear visuals and short conclusions, revise their explanation through peer feedback, and prepare an evidence-based gallery presentation that includes what they learned, a limitation, and a new question.
