Students will launch the Trial of the Locktons project by connecting unfair treatment in *Chains* to present-day bias and language barriers in Delaware, then define the challenge, identify affected end users, and generate inquiry questions that will guide later research and argument.
Days 1 - 3
Engineer
Students will design and strengthen their courtroom-style case and community hearing recommendation by studying strong models, planning team roles and evidence use, drafting arguments, testing their reasoning with peers and community partners, and revising based on feedback before moving into presentation and implementation.
Days 18 - 26
Do
Students will test their courtroom case and community hearing recommendations, collect evidence about how well their argument works with an audience, and use feedback to strengthen claims about justice, bias, language barriers, and abuse of power before the final public sharing.
Days 27 - 29
Share
Students will present what they learned through the Trial of the Locktons and the Delaware community hearing, then document how their evidence use, collaboration, and understanding of justice grew across the project.
