Discover
Students will launch the fast fashion project by examining discarded clothing as a local NYC problem, identifying who is affected, and drafting evidence-based questions and user-focused challenge statements that will guide later investigation and design.
Days 1 - 3
Engineer
Students will turn research and science evidence into human-centered design concepts, plan and build a repurposed textile accessory or small fashion item, test ideas with users, and revise using feedback while documenting how material choices, function, and conservation of matter connect to their solution.
Days 18 - 26
Do
Students will implement and test their repurposed textile fashion items or accessories, collect evidence about function and user response, and use feedback to strengthen claims about how their designs could reduce fast fashion waste for NYC teens and young adults.
Days 27 - 29
Share
Students will present the impact of their repurposed textile designs to an authentic audience and document how their science understanding, design choices, and community awareness developed across the project.
