Students will launch the fresco chemistry project by examining durable and damaged murals, observing a short materials demo, generating investigable questions about pigment, binder, and plaster interactions, and setting up their investigation notebooks for the next phase.

Students will refine a durable-mural investigation question, study how fresco materials and preservation choices shape reaction outcomes, and design a safe, peer-reviewed method with variables, controls, evidence plans, and a lab report outline before beginning testing.

Students will organize and analyze fresco trial evidence, create data displays that connect chemistry to artistic outcomes, test the strength of their interpretations through peer and community feedback, revise their mural proposals and lab reports, and complete a scored analysis checkpoint before moving to the final showcase.

Students will present their fresco investigations and mural proposals to an authentic audience, defend artist-scientist decisions with evidence from their tests, and complete a final performance assessment aligned to the project rubric.
