Launch
Students will launch the songwriting project by listening to and discussing songs they care about, noticing how lyrics, rhythm, and melody shape feelings, and meeting the challenge to create a class song with สปukulele, words, and beat for a real audience.
Day 1
Research & Plan
Students will listen to songs, interview classmates about music preferences and feelings, study how lyrics and rhythm shape mood, and organize their findings into an empathy-based design brief for a class song. They will use feedback from peers and Lลkahi: The Ukulele Collective to refine a How Might We statement and clear success criteria before moving into drafting and prototyping.
Days 2 - 5
Prototype & Present
Students will turn their research and planning into testable song ideas by building quick chord, rhythm, and lyric prototypes, gathering feedback from classmates and Lลkahi: The Ukulele Collective, revising through two short iteration cycles, and preparing a concise stakeholder-facing share-out of the evidence behind their choices.
Days 6 - 9
Showcase
Students will present their finished class song to an authentic audience, share how feedback shaped their final musical and lyric choices, and complete a brief artist reflection connected to the lyric writing competition submission.
