Empathize
Students will explore a science museum-style planet display, notice what makes a solar system model clear for viewers, and co-create a first sketch plan that uses planet order, simple features, labels, and nonstandard measurement ideas.
Define
Students will sort what they noticed from the planet display into the most important facts for viewers, then co-write a simple group design statement and sketch that defines how their solar system display should be accurate and easy to understand.
Ideate
Students will generate and compare several solar system display ideas, use museum photos and class evidence to choose one strong plan, and revise a group sketch after quick peer feedback so their later model is accurate, clear, and easy for visitors to understand.
Draft
Students will build a first-draft solar system gallery display by using their earlier sketches, museum partner photos, and nonstandard measurement plans to arrange the Sun and eight planets in order, label key features, and make design choices that help viewers understand the model clearly.
Test
Students will test their draft solar system gallery displays with classmates, gather feedback on science accuracy and visual clarity, and make one evidence-based revision to improve how well a viewer can understand the model.
Critique
Students will use a structured gallery critique to notice strengths in classmates’ solar system displays, share one planet fact they learned, give kind and specific feedback to 2 peers, and revise their own group model, poster, or fact cards to make the display more accurate and clear.
Notice & Reflect
Students will present their solar system gallery displays, participate in a quick peer-feedback gallery walk, and share what they learned about planets and teamwork through oral reflection and simple evidence from their final model, poster, and fact cards.
