Launch
Students will launch the science storybook project by analyzing mentor texts and sample Canva pages, identifying what helps younger readers understand science, and connecting those observations to the driving questions and project expectations.
Day 1
Research & Empathy
Students will gather evidence from younger readers and reliable science media, turn that evidence into an empathy artifact and design brief, and choose one book direction to carry into prototyping.
Days 2 - 3
Prototype & Validate
Students will turn their selected science story concept into a quick testable prototype, gather feedback from peers and younger readers, complete a rubric-based self-check on accuracy, clarity, and teamwork, and revise their Canva book using evidence from each feedback round before sharing a brief design-journey update.
Days 4 - 5
Showcase
Students will present their completed Canva science storybooks to younger readers and invited adults, explain the evidence and revision choices in their author’s note, and reflect on how their science communication and collaboration grew during the project.
