Question
Students will encounter evidence of technological disruption, reflect on their own career interests, and develop a focused, investigable research question and hypothesis that will guide their Career Change Investigation Notebook and future brochure.
Days 1 - 3
Design
Students will design a systematic investigation plan that aligns with their career-focused research question, selecting appropriate methods (interview, survey, archival/labor market research), identifying variables or sources, and creating a detailed data collection protocol with built-in quality controls before beginning Phase 3.
Days 4 - 7
Collect
Students will systematically collect primary and secondary data aligned to their research questions about technological change and careers, documenting conditions, quotes, anomalies, and methodological decisions in their Career Change Investigation Notebook to ensure high-quality evidence for later analysis.
Days 8 - 11
Analyze
Students will interpret their primary and secondary source data, create purposeful data visualizations, identify patterns and anomalies, and determine how their evidence supports, contradicts, or complicates their original hypothesis. This phase transforms collected data into meaning that will anchor their final conclusions and brochure content.
Days 12 - 16
Conclude
Students will draw evidence-based conclusions from their investigation of technological change and careers, explicitly acknowledge limitations, generate new questions, and present their full research process and findings to an authentic audience through a public career fair exhibition.
Days 17 - 20
