Students will launch the Snack Shop Challenge by investigating how fraction operations appear in everyday choices about combining, comparing, scaling, and sharing food portions. They will use visual models, equations, and discussion to test strategies, document evidence in their notebooks, and identify questions that will guide the next phase of the investigation.

Students will refine a real-life fraction investigation question, test possible solution methods with visual models and equations, and produce a peer-reviewed method plan for collecting evidence about fraction operations in a snack-shop context.

Students will present and defend their Everyday Fractions Planning Board and Investigation Report to an authentic audience, use evidence and feedback to revise their explanations, and reflect on their growth with fraction operations in everyday contexts.
