Launch
Students will launch the Santa Ana statistics investigation by analyzing map-based local data clues, testing quick claims against evidence, and identifying community issues worth investigating through probability and statistics.
Day 1
Question & Plan
Students will refine a focused Santa Ana statistics investigation, test whether their question and hypothesis are investigable, and build a peer-reviewed data and sampling plan that names variables, likely sources, bias risks, and planned graphs before moving into data collection and analysis.
Days 2 - 4
Analyze & Present
Students will turn their Santa Ana investigation data into defensible statistical evidence, refine claims through critique, and complete a partner-ready infographic and policy brief with explicit limitations, revised visuals, and actionable recommendations.
Days 5 - 7
Showcase
Students will present their Santa Ana community data story infographic and one-page policy brief to classmates, staff, and invited local leaders, defend how their statistics support their recommendation, and reflect on how data changed their understanding of community issues.
