Launch
Students will launch the blueprint project by observing a real house-under-construction context, asking how blueprints communicate design choices, and creating a first floor-plan sketch that identifies rooms, doors, windows, and simple criteria and constraints for a single-family house.
Day 1
Prototype Testing Review
Students will test early single-family house floor plans against clear criteria and constraints, collect evidence from readability and fit-to-space checks, compare design options, revise drawings based on peer and teacher critique, and complete a short reflection about what changed and what still needs improvement before the showcase.
Days 2 - 5
Showcase
Students will present their revised single-family house floor plans to an authentic audience, explain how evidence and feedback shaped their design decisions, critique classmates' drawings during a blueprint gallery walk, and complete a final reflection on how well their blueprint met the criteria and constraints and what they would change next.
