Launch
Students will launch the engineering challenge by investigating circle parts through hands-on stations, connecting those measurements to a real circular product or structure, and starting a project log with initial sketches, calculations, and measurable design criteria.
Day 1
Prototype And Measure
Students will turn their design brief into three measurable circular concepts, choose one with quantitative justification, build a fast scaled prototype, and collect first-round test data on arc length, sector area, radians, scale factor, and volume-related dimensions in their project log.
Days 2 - 3
Revise And Showcase
Students will analyze prototype test data, pinpoint which circle relationship or scale assumption caused performance gaps, revise their circular model with evidence-based calculations, retest using the same protocol, and prepare a concise stakeholder-ready explanation of the optimization cycle using project-log photos, sketches, and measured results.
Days 4 - 5
Showcase
Students will present their revised scaled circular prototypes and engineering evidence to an authentic audience, explain how circle relationships and scale decisions solved a measurement problem, and complete a brief reflection conference grounded in project log evidence, revisions, and shared team decisions.
