Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to analyze circle measurements, arc length, sector area, and radian relationships to solve a real measurement problem in a scaled prototype.

2

Students will be able to construct and justify inscribed regular polygons and transformations in a circular design using rotations and dilations.

3

Students will be able to apply circumference, area, and volume formulas to evaluate and revise a circular product prototype such as a roundabout, fountain base, or organizer.

Engineering Design Notebook with Concept Set, Decision Matrix, and Calculations

Each student submits a notebook showing three distinct circular design concepts, labeled sketches, a weighted decision matrix, and calculations for radius, arc length, sector area, radians, and volume. The notebook must explain which concept best meets the measurable criteria and why.

team

Revised Scaled Circular Prototype with Performance Evidence Board

Teams build and revise one functional circular prototype, then present a labeled scale model, test results, and evidence of at least one improvement made from data. The display must show how the chosen design used the best individual concepts, circle constructions, and geometric calculations.
