Students will launch the poetry project by analyzing mentor poems, gathering evidence about younger listeners’ preferences, and creating a quick sound-and-image poetry sketch.

Students will use evidence from younger listeners and prior mentor-poem analysis to design, test, and twice revise an original winter or holiday poem for an engaging read-aloud.

Students will present their completed winter or holiday poems to younger-grade classrooms, gather authentic audience feedback, and reflect on how their design choices answered the essential question.
