Learning Goals
Students will be able to analyze conflict types, character motivations, and story elements across two productions of the same work to explain how theatrical choices shape an audience’s understanding of a story.
Students will be able to construct a short holiday play using cause-and-effect plotting, character wants and obstacles, and exposition, inciting incident, crisis, climax, and denouement to communicate the honest, messy, and joyful realities of holiday traditions.
Students will be able to explore multiple staging solutions, pacing choices, character objectives, and tactics to overcome dramatic obstacles and communicate a holiday story clearly to an audience.
Students will be able to refine dialogue, stage directions, pacing, and dramatic structure using perceptual feedback about what peers saw, heard, felt, and thought to make audience-centered revisions.
Students will be able to collaborate to rehearse and perform a revised holiday play for an audience while using empathetic communication, shared decision-making, and reflection to strengthen ensemble effectiveness.
