How this Plan uses your files
Both source lessons are retained in sequence and combined with the drafting, testing, and revision work. The broad feedback menu is shortened to comparative analysis, perceptual response, critique, and alternative-ending tasks so rehearsal and showcase time remain protected.
Launch
Launch
Students will launch the Winterfest playwriting project by classifying holiday conflicts, analyzing character wants and obstacles, and testing contrasting staging choices in a rapid mini-scene.
Day 1
Research & Empathize
Research & Empathize
Students will examine two productions of the same drama, document how conflict, motivation, structure, pacing, and staging influence meaning, and test their assumptions through direct contact with younger audience members. They will use this evidence to create and revise a comparative analysis and audience-needs brief for their Winterfest holiday play.
Days 2 - 5
Draft & Test
Draft & Test
Students will transform audience evidence into a user-centered Winterfest design brief, develop several holiday-play concepts, and test a conflict-driven scene through two documented iterations. Ensembles will use feedback to strengthen character objectives, cause-and-effect action, pacing, staging, climax, and resolution before advancing to full-script revision.
Days 6 - 9
Revise & Rehearse
Revise & Rehearse
Students will use structured peer and audience feedback to revise, validate, and rehearse a complete holiday play, producing a polished script, documented revision portfolio, and rehearsal-ready performance supported by audience evidence.
Days 10 - 13
Showcase
Showcase
Students will perform their revised Winterfest holiday plays for an authentic audience, submit evidence of their design and revision process, and reflect on their growth as playwrights and ensemble members.
