Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to analyze geometric shapes, measurements, ratios, symmetry, and transformations to explain how their properties create pattern, balance, and visual movement.

2

Students will be able to generate and evaluate multiple measured geometric art concepts using design criteria, constraints, and comparisons to select a promising approach.

3

Students will be able to create, test, and refine a geometric artwork in a traditional or digital medium using feedback and documented experimentation to improve technical skill and visual impact.

4

Students will be able to justify collaborative artistic and exhibition decisions by communicating how geometry and varied cultural, personal, or community perspectives shape pattern, balance, movement, and meaning.

Geometric Artwork and Iterative Design Portfolio

Each student produces three measured concept sketches, a criteria-based design comparison, experimentation and feedback notes, a revised geometric artwork, and a concise artist statement explaining how geometric choices create pattern, balance, and movement from a personal or community perspective.

Geometry in Motion Collaborative Gallery Installation

Teams use a measured grid or ratio-based layout to co-curate members’ artworks, test and revise the installation for visual balance and viewer movement, and deliver a gallery presentation that explains design trade-offs, varied perspectives, and evidence of revision.
