Learning Goals
Students will be able to develop a theoretical probability distribution for two-dice sums and craps outcomes to explain how sample-space structure determines long-run probabilities and percentages.
Students will be able to calculate expected payoffs for common craps bets by assigning probabilities to payoff values to determine mathematical advantage or disadvantage.
Students will be able to analyze theoretical probabilities, experimental percentages, and variation from repeated no-money craps simulations to explain differences between actual odds and player expectations.
Students will be able to justify a strategy evaluation and fair-game redesign using probability distributions and expected values to show how mathematical evidence supports fair decisions.

Craps Probability Investigation Notebook
Each student documents the two-dice sample space, theoretical probability distribution, simulation data and percentages, expected-payoff calculations, strategy analysis, and an independently justified fair-game redesign. All simulations use classroom tokens or scorekeeping only, with no money or wagering.
Craps Probability Expo Investigation Presentation
Teams synthesize members’ findings into a presentation with probability visuals, simulation results, expected-payoff comparisons, an explanation of player misconceptions, and a testable no-money fair-game redesign. The presentation identifies uncertainty or anomalous results and defends conclusions with mathematical evidence.
