Students will be able to investigate board game mechanics through a guided website scavenger hunt and identify how specific mechanics shape player choices, challenge, and excitement.
Students will be able to analyze and document evidence from kid-friendly BoardGameGeek pages and short board game clips to describe how a chosen mechanic works in gameplay.
Students will be able to create and revise a mechanic poster that uses a labeled visual, clear text, and a research question to communicate how one board game mechanic changes play.

Board Game Mechanic Research Notebook
Students compile their scavenger-hunt notes, source observations, selected mechanic explanation, and personal analysis in a structured investigation record. The notebook shows how their understanding developed from questions and evidence rather than opinion alone.
Board Game Mechanic Gallery Poster Presentation
Pairs or small teams synthesize individual findings into a polished poster and brief presentation explaining one mechanic, how it shapes gameplay, and what evidence supports their claims. The team product must show how members combined and compared evidence, including any surprising or conflicting findings.
