Students complete a final reflection page for their Baseball Player Growth Journal, then share a brief evidence-based summary with a small group. They reference scorecards, scrimmage trials, interview notes, tracker entries for sleep/exercise/support, and revision decisions to explain what changed in their thinking about pressure, confidence, and improvement. Each student names one pattern in the data, one limit in the evidence, one revision they made after feedback, and one next step for keeping the game enjoyable.

# What teachers do
1 Open with a brief circle prompt and goal for the share: remind students that today they will use evidence to explain how performance, pressure, confidence, and enjoyment connect; review the share structure: one pattern, one evidence limit, one revision after feedback, and one next step. (5 min)
2 Have students gather and sort their evidence tools: growth journal, scorecards, scrimmage trial notes, interview notes, sleep/exercise/support tracker, mood or confidence check-ins, and revision notes. Ask them to highlight or mark 3-4 pieces of evidence they will use in their final reflection page. (8 min)
3 Students complete the final reflection page independently. They write a concise summary that addresses at least one essential question, names a performance or wellness goal, describes what changed in their thinking, identifies one pattern in their data, explains one limitation in the evidence, cites one insight from a coach/player/video interview, and states one next step for improvement that keeps the game enjoyable. (15 min)
4 Students rehearse with a partner using a timed practice round. Partner A shares for 1 minute, Partner B listens and gives feedback using the prompts: Was the evidence clear? Did they name a pattern, limitation, revision, and next step? Then switch roles and allow 1 extra minute each to revise notes. (8 min)
5 Facilitate small-group reflection shares in groups of 4. Each student gives a brief evidence-based summary, then group members respond with one empathy-based comment and one question about revision, support systems, or data quality. Students add one final note to their reflection page based on peer responses. (18 min)
6 Close with a quick written exit note: students write one sentence they could use in the final exhibition about how evidence can guide improvement without harming enjoyment or mental health. Collect journals/reflection pages or have students store them in portfolios. (6 min)
Preparation (7 items)
  • Prepare a final reflection page template with prompts for: goal, evidence used, pattern in data, limitation in evidence, revision after feedback, interview/community insight, next step, and enjoyment/mental health takeaway.
  • Gather or organize all student materials in advance so they are easy to access: journals, scorecards, scrimmage trial records, interview notes, trackers, sticky-note check-ins, and revision notes.
  • Create a visible share protocol chart with sentence stems such as: "A pattern I noticed was...," "One limit in my evidence is...," "After feedback, I revised...," and "My next step to keep the game enjoyable is...."
  • Prepare small-group listening/feedback prompts that emphasize empathy and specificity, including one praise stem and one question stem for each listener.
  • Arrange the room for partner rehearsal and small-group sharing, with enough space for groups of 4 to speak quietly and hear one another.
  • Set up a timer and projected agenda so students can track each phase and keep shares concise.
  • Identify students who may need support with speaking, writing, or emotional reflection and prepare options such as sentence frames, bullet-point planning, audio recording, or teacher check-in.
Student-facing instructions
You will complete the final reflection page for your Baseball Player Growth Journal and then share a short summary with a small group. Gather your journal, scorecards, scrimmage trial notes, interview notes, sleep/exercise/support tracker, mood or confidence check-ins, and any revision notes. Your task is to choose the strongest evidence that shows how your thinking changed about pressure, confidence, improvement, and enjoyment of the game. In your reflection, you will name one pattern in your data, one limit in your evidence, one revision you made after feedback, one insight from a player, coach, or video source, and one realistic next step. Then you will practice your summary with a partner and share it with your small group. While others speak, you will listen carefully, respond with empathy, and ask one useful question. Your goal is to create a clear, evidence-based reflection that shows growth over time and helps you prepare for the final showcase.
