Launch
🎭 Courtroom Portrait Clue Freeze
Submission Required
Students begin with a role-play launch that blends the Courtroom of the Canvas and a quick Renaissance Red Carpet comparison. In small groups, they take on roles such as noble, artisan, clergy, or artist, use simple costume pieces or props, and build a frozen portrait pose that classmates decode using a projected clue chart with color, clothing, pose, facial expression, and setting categories. After each tableau, students compare one Middle Ages or Rafael Sanzio portrait and one modern image, then record 3 evidence notes and 1 investigable question in their Portrait Investigation Notebook about how visual choices signal power, class, or belief.
