Empathize
Students will engage in an immersive launch experience to build empathy and cultural understanding of Huichol (WixΓ‘rika) art traditions, gather insights from media and peer dialogue, and document initial user-centered observations that will inform their yarn landscape designs.
Day 1
Define
Students will synthesize their research on Huichol symbolism and audience perspectives into a clear design challenge that guides their yarn landscape and installation work, using empathy tools, collaborative discussion, and a defined problem statement.
Day 2
Ideate
Students will generate and refine diverse design ideas for their Huichol-inspired yarn landscapes and 3D installation sections by applying cultural research, brainstorming multiple visual concepts, gathering peer feedback, and selecting a concept to prototype based on user experience and cultural authenticity.
Day 3
Prototype
Students will construct and refine prototype versions of their Huichol-inspired yarn landscapes and 3D installation sections, applying researched symbolism and design plans. Through structured peer feedback, a Feedback Wall, and documented revisions, students will iterate on their work to improve cultural accuracy, craftsmanship, and viewer experience before final exhibition testing.
Day 4
Test/Present
Students will finalize and present their Huichol-inspired yarn landscapes and 3D installation to authentic visitors, gather user feedback, reflect on cultural learning, and demonstrate mastery through an interactive exhibition.
