Students create a low- to mid-fidelity version of their digital memoir elements (storyboard of scenes, sketch of the multimedia storytelling map, and a short audio or video mockup). In small groups, they test these prototypes with a real user (classmate, family member, or community partner), collect immediate feedback on clarity, emotion, and navigation, and record changes in a simple iteration log to guide the next version.

2 Memoir Drafting: Students sketch out narratives focusing on key life moments with defined beginnings, middles, and ends. (15 min)
3 Prototype Creation: Create low- to mid-fidelity storyboards or sketches; draw key scenes or map story elements digitally. (15 min)
4 Peer Feedback: Pair up students to share prototypes with classmates or family members, ask for feedback on clarity and emotion. (10 min)
5 Iteration Log: Students note feedback and plan adjustments in a simple log, setting steps to refine narratives further. (10 min)
Preparation (1 item)
  • Prepare printed storyboarding templates and multimedia sketching tools (colored pencils, tablets with drawing apps) ahead of the class.
Student-facing instructions
You'll start by drafting your memoir prototype focusing on meaningful life moments to incorporate into a narrative. Use the templates to create initial sketches or storyboards. Share these with a peer or family member to get feedback on the emotional impact and clarity. Use their feedback to plan changes you'll make in your iteration log.
