Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify the four layers of Earth and describe their relative positions and properties.
Students will be able to explain how weathering and erosion change Earth's surface over time.
Students will be able to build and label a model that represents Earth's layers accurately.
Students will be able to investigate and communicate how an earthquake simulation shows movement and impact within Earth's layers.
Students will be able to collaborate and present a clear explanation of local weathering or erosion evidence using scientific vocabulary.
Products
Earth Science Evidence Explanation Sheet
Students complete an individual explanation sheet with labeled diagrams, short responses, and evidence from observations. It shows what they know about Earth's layers, weathering, erosion, and the earthquake simulation.
Crust Creators Expo Team Presentation and Mini-Documentary
Student teams create and present a short mini-documentary and live demonstration of their earthquake model or local weathering/erosion investigation. The product shows how well the team applies Earth science ideas and communicates them to an audience.
