Products

Throughout the project, students will collaboratively produce a multimedia presentation that traces the timeline of a homicide case from investigation to trial. This presentation will incorporate student-created animations and graphics to elucidate key legal concepts and detective work. Additionally, students will create documentaries that capture their investigative journey, featuring interviews with community partners and showcasing their ability to synthesize information and communicate effectively. These products will be shared during the Homicide Investigation Film Festival, providing an opportunity for students to exhibit their learning and engage with community feedback.

Launch

Begin the project with a 'Crime Scene Simulation Day,' where students work collaboratively in teams to solve a mock homicide case. They will apply investigative techniques such as fingerprint analysis and witness interviewing, using provided evidence and statements to piece together the case. This immersive experience will spark curiosity and set the stage for deeper exploration into the roles and responsibilities of homicide detectives and their intersection with the justice system.

Exhibition

Students will screen their documentaries and multimedia presentations at the 'Homicide Investigation Film Festival,' showcasing their investigative journey and understanding of the justice system. This event will include a discussion panel featuring community partners and legal experts, allowing students to engage in dialogue and receive feedback on their work. The festival will celebrate students' achievements and provide a platform for them to share their insights and reflections with peers, educators, and community members.
