The Challenge

Building a strong school culture in Kenya involves understanding and integrating diverse cultural practices and values to foster a respectful and collaborative environment. Key barriers include navigating cultural differences and establishing shared norms that resonate with all community members.

Challenge Question

How can we create a welcoming and inclusive school culture that celebrates diverse traditions and fosters respectful interactions among students and staff in Kenya?

Standards

[National Council for the Social Studies] D4.8.3-5 - Use a range of deliberative and democratic procedures to make decisions about and act on civic problems in their classrooms and schools.

Competencies

Self Directed Learning - Students use teacher and peer feedback and self-reflection to monitor and direct their own learning while building self knowledge both in and out of the classroom.

Learning Partners and Clients

Partner with local community leaders in Kenya to facilitate workshops where students can learn about cultural practices and values, fostering understanding and respect for diverse traditions.
