Learning Goals
Students will be able to observe and record local temperature, sunlight, wind, clouds, and precipitation to document weather conditions over time.
Students will be able to identify patterns in picture charts and temperature records to describe how local weather changes over time and from season to season.
Students will be able to compare observations of sunlit and shaded surfaces to explain that sunlight warms Earth’s surface and contributes to warmer or colder conditions.
Students will be able to ask and answer questions about weather forecasts to explain how forecasts help people select clothing, plan activities, and prepare safely for severe weather.
Students will be able to present weather observations and evidence-based choices to communicate weather patterns and listen respectfully to others’ questions and ideas.

My Weather Investigation Journal
Each student creates a picture-based journal with daily weather observations, simple tool records, a sun-versus-shade comparison, an identified pattern, and a forecast-based clothing or safety choice. The student uses the journal to give a brief oral explanation and answer a question.
Class Weather Wall and Forecast Gallery Presentation
Teams combine individual evidence into a class weather wall, warm-and-cold model, and short forecast that describes a pattern, explains sunlight’s effect, and recommends clothing, activities, or severe-weather preparation. Teams present during the Forecast Gallery Walk and Winter Wardrobe Showcase, listen to visitor questions, and revise one part for clarity.
