1

Students will be able to formulate focused research questions about a creation myth’s characters, central ideas, symbolism, and regional context to guide disciplined inquiry across several sources

2

Students will be able to analyze a creation myth’s protagonist and/or antagonist using textual evidence for speech, thoughts, effects on others, actions, and looks to explain how authors develop characterization

3

Students will be able to determine and accurately summarize the central ideas, character roles, and symbolism of creation-myth and regional-context sources to distinguish source evidence from prior knowledge or opinion

4

Students will be able to compare a creation myth with a modern work of fiction to explain how themes, event patterns, or character types are retained and rendered new

5

Students will be able to justify culturally respectful menu choices with STEAL evidence and regional food research to communicate a myth character’s personality, motives, and impact

6

Creation Myth Character Investigation Portfolio

Each student compiles focused questions, multi-source notes, an accurate myth summary, a STEAL evidence analysis, a myth-to-modern-fiction comparison, regional food research, and an annotated menu concept. A RACES/DBQ response, feedback record, and reflection explain how the evidence supports and improves the student’s characterization and design choices.

Creation Myth Bistro Menu and Evidence Presentation

Teams synthesize members’ investigations into a polished menu whose dish names, ingredient descriptions, and STEAL explanations reveal a protagonist and/or antagonist while making respectful regional connections. Teams exhibit the revised menu to classmates and invited community partners, explain the myth-to-modern connection and supporting evidence, identify limitations or uncertainties, and document each member’s contribution and response to feedback.
