Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to develop models of sound and light waves that describe patterns in amplitude and wavelength and show how waves can cause objects to move.

2

Students will be able to investigate sound and light energy by collecting observations that show energy transferring from place to place.

3

Students will be able to explain how reflected light traveling from an object into the eye allows the object to be seen.

4

Students will be able to ask investigable questions and predict changes in energy and motion when objects collide.

5

Students will be able to apply evidence about waves, reflection, and energy transfer to test and refine a solution for an interactive sound-and-light demonstration.

6

Students will be able to communicate evidence-based explanations of sound and light investigations and reflect on how feedback, challenges, and collaboration changed their thinking.

Sound and Light Investigation Journal and Reflection

Each student documents questions, predictions, methods, observations, wave and reflection models, collision evidence, analysis, revisions, and a final written, drawn, or audio reflection explaining how evidence and feedback changed their understanding.

Interactive Sound-and-Light Science Museum Exhibit

Teams create, test, revise, and present an interactive exhibit with labeled wave models, collision and object-movement evidence, shadow and reflection demonstrations, kid-friendly explanation cards, and a live explanation of how sound and light transfer energy and solve everyday problems.
