Learning Goals & Products

Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to represent and solve multiplication and division word problems within 100 using repeated addition, equal groups, arrays, equations, and fact families to explain the relationship among mathematical representations.

2

Students will be able to apply operation properties and place-value strategies to multiply and divide within 100, including multiplying one-digit numbers by multiples of 10, to develop accurate and efficient computation.

3

Students will be able to investigate and explain patterns in multiplication facts and tables using examples and operation properties to justify mathematical conclusions.

Multiplication Strategy Investigation Notebook

Each student documents solutions to structured supply-packing investigations using word problems, arrays or equal groups, repeated addition, equations, fact families, properties, multiplication-table patterns, and one-digit factors multiplied by multiples of 10. Students record their methods, check accuracy, analyze patterns, and reflect on changes in their multiplication fluency and comfort.

School Supply Multiplication Investigation Exhibit

Teams create and present a museum exhibit that synthesizes members’ findings into student-created packing problems, visual models, equations, efficient property-based strategies, and an explanation of a multiplication-table pattern. The team includes a visitor challenge and uses solution feedback to revise the clarity or accuracy of its exhibit.
