Learning Goals
Students will be able to formulate a focused, investigable question about an 8th-grade science concept—such as forces and motion, matter and chemical reactions, Earth systems, or heredity and ecosystems—to guide disciplined scientific inquiry.
Students will be able to investigate an 8th-grade science question by comprehending and documenting evidence from several credible, grade-appropriate science and technical texts.
Students will be able to explain relationships among scientific evidence, models, and cause-and-effect mechanisms in a selected 8th-grade science topic through an accurate source-based script and visual explanation.
Students will be able to revise and publish a clear, engaging, and accessible science video by applying peer and teacher feedback, sharing production decisions, and reflecting on audience understanding and personal growth.

Science Investigation Notebook and Evidence-Based Video Script
Each student documents a focused science question, notes and credibility checks from several technical sources, evidence analysis, new related questions, an individually written video script segment, and a reflection on revisions and learning. This record demonstrates each student's independent science understanding and research contribution to the team video.
Captioned 8th-Grade Science Channel Video
Each production team creates, edits, revises, and publishes a 3–5-minute captioned video that answers its science question using accurate evidence, clear reasoning, purposeful visuals or models, and source credits. Teams premiere the video through a school-approved channel and explain how feedback, audience response, and shared production roles shaped the final revision.
