Learning Goals
Students will be able to analyze how tension, compression, weight, and load distribution affect the structural stability of a popsicle-stick bridge.
Students will be able to generate and evaluate multiple bridge designs using measurable criteria, limited-material constraints, annotated sketches, and a decision matrix.
Students will be able to test and optimize a popsicle-stick bridge by collecting load-test data and using the results to revise the design.
Students will be able to reflect on a bridge-design challenge or mistake by analyzing their response and explaining how they would improve their approach in a future iteration.

Popsicle-Bridge Engineering Design Notebook
Each student documents multiple annotated bridge concepts, force predictions, a decision matrix, test-data analysis, design justification, and a reflection explaining a challenge or mistake and what they would do differently.
Tested and Revised Popsicle-Stick Bridge Demonstration
Each team builds a bridge with identical limited materials, conducts a supervised load test, revises the structure at least once using performance data, and presents its final bridge with evidence about forces, trade-offs, growth, and limitations.
