Students will establish a performance baseline by planning, building, safely testing, and reflecting on a limited-material popsicle-stick bridge.
Day 1
Design, Build & Test
Design, Build & Test
Students will apply force and weight concepts to compare bridge designs, justify a design with measurable evidence, build and safely test a limited-material prototype, and revise it based on quantitative results and peer feedback.
Days 2 - 3
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present and safely load-test their revised popsicle-stick bridges at a Bridge Engineering Expo, using design sketches and quantitative data to explain how physics, weight, and repeated practice improved performance. They will exchange evidence-based feedback, revise their engineering claims, and respond to questions from invited families, staff, or another class. Each student will then complete an individual reflection about a challenge or mistake, their response, its effect, and a future improvement.
