Launch
Students will launch the investigation by examining crystal evidence, comparing crystal formation with organism growth, refining investigable questions, and planning how they will document multiple growth trials.
Day 1
Analyze & Refine
Analyze & Refine
Students will analyze evidence from multiple crystal-growth trials, identify patterns and anomalies, and refine evidence-based explanations. They will create and peer-review a draft before-and-after display while distinguishing nonliving crystal formation from organism growth influenced by environmental and genetic factors.
Days 2 - 3
Showcase
Showcase
Students will defend their crystal-growth findings to an invited audience, use feedback to revise their work, and reflect on changes in their scientific understanding and collaboration.
