Learning Goals
Students will be able to formulate investigable questions about color mixing, vinegar-and-baking-soda reactions, and balloon inflation by identifying observable phenomena and testable variable relationships.
Students will be able to design safe, controlled investigations of simple science demonstrations by specifying independent and dependent variables, controls, tools, measurements, repeated trials, and data-recording methods.
Students will be able to analyze observations and data from color mixing, vinegar-and-baking-soda reactions, and balloon demonstrations to evaluate and revise experimental methods.
Students will be able to construct and communicate an age-appropriate scientific explanation of vinegar and baking soda producing new substances, including carbon dioxide gas that can inflate a balloon, using valid evidence from their investigation.
Students will be able to evaluate and improve their contributions to a safe science demonstration through shared decision-making, role fulfillment, empathetic communication, and response to peer and teacher feedback.

Individual Science Investigation Notebook and Evidence-Based Explanation
Each student documents an investigable question, variables, controls, tools, safety procedures, repeated-trial data, revisions, and an evidence-based explanation of the chemical reaction and balloon inflation. The notebook also includes before-and-after reflection on the student's teamwork, communication, and use of feedback.
TK–Kindergarten Live Science Stations and Demonstration Video
Each team safely tests, revises, films, and presents age-appropriate color-mixing, vinegar-and-baking-soda, and balloon demonstrations, using visuals and investigation evidence to explain observations and invite younger students' questions. Team members share presenter, materials manager, safety monitor, and recorder roles during the approved exhibition, with no tasting of any materials.
