Learning Goals
Students will be able to analyze how material thickness, stretch, drying time, and thermal energy transfer affect web-shooter launch range, accuracy, and consistency.
Students will be able to apply Newton’s Third Law to explain and improve the motion and impact of a soft projectile in a low-force web-shooter prototype.
Students will be able to investigate magnetic forces and evaluate test methods as evidence that fields exert forces without direct contact.
Students will be able to optimize a safe web-shooter prototype by using quantitative test data, peer and teacher feedback, shared decisions, and 3-2-1 reflections to justify revisions.

Web-Shooter Engineering Design and Investigation Notebook
Each student documents multiple design concepts, annotated plans, a decision matrix, safe test methods, quantitative data, scientific explanations, and revisions supported by feedback. The notebook includes a 3-2-1 reflection from each class and explains how the student’s evidence informed team decisions.
Safe Web-Shooter Prototype and Performance Demonstration
Each team constructs, tests, and revises a low-force prototype using teacher-approved nontoxic materials, a magnetic interaction, thermal-transfer controls, and a soft projectile aimed only at a designated target. Teams present repeated-launch data demonstrating consistency and accuracy at a target distance and explain Newton’s Third Law, field evidence, thermal design choices, trade-offs, limitations, and feedback-driven revisions.
