Learning Goals
I will be able to analyze H–R diagrams to distinguish stellar observations from evolutionary predictions.
I will be able to compare pressure support and gravity to explain stellar equilibrium and evolution.
I will be able to calculate an exoplanet's radius, mass, and density. Use transit and radial-velocity data. Exoplanet means a planet that orbits another star.
I will be able to evaluate exoplanet habitability using calculated properties and stated uncertainties.
I will be able to model extreme gravity using Schwarzschild radii and gravitational light deflection.
I will be able to justify scientific conclusions using traceable sources, reproducible calculations, and stated uncertainty.
I will be able to revise and present scientific explanations using feedback and clear visual evidence.
Products
You Build a Trustworthy Astrophysics Report
You will submit a revised science report. It will include methods, calculations, charts, conclusions, citations, and uncertainties. Your record will include H–R, stellar equilibrium, exoplanet, and extreme gravity investigations. H–R means a graph of star brightness and temperature. Stellar equilibrium means a star's push and pull stay balanced. Exoplanet means a planet that orbits another star.
You Explain a Star’s Place in the Universe
You will create a stellar property station and public science story for younger visitors. Stellar means about stars. You will present evidence, answer questions, and explain how feedback changed your work.
