Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to classify clean, safe school items for reuse, recycling, or trash to show how sorting reduces waste and conserves natural resources.

2

Students will be able to observe waste, reusable materials, and shared spaces to define an Earth-care problem that matters to people at school.

3

Students will be able to explain one daily school Earth-care habit to show how individual choices can protect resources and keep shared spaces clean and healthy.

4

Students will be able to design a labeled sketch, drawing, or tiny model of a school Earth-care improvement to show how its shape and parts help it work.

5

Students will be able to collaborate on a school Earth-care solution to show how listening, shared decisions, and different ideas improve a design for its users.

6

Students will be able to refine and communicate an Earth-care improvement using teacher, peer, and visitor feedback to show how feedback and reflection strengthen a solution.

Daily School Earth-Care Habit Poster and Improvement Drawing

Each student creates a picture-and-label poster that classifies example school materials, identifies an observed school need, and presents one daily Earth-care habit plus a labeled improvement drawing. The student explains how the idea conserves resources, keeps spaces healthy, and uses shape or parts to work, then revises it after feedback.

School Earth-Care Improvement Prototype and Gallery Presentation

Using every member's observations and ideas, each team co-designs and revises a tiny model, poster, or drawing of one school Earth-care improvement, then presents how it meets users' needs, reduces waste or protects resources, and functions during the Earth Care Gallery Walk. Teams may create a tiny model, a collaborative poster, or a large labeled drawing.

Student choices
Tiny Improvement Model — Build a small, low-tech model from clean, safe materials and label the parts that help it function.
Collaborative Improvement Poster — Create a team poster with pictures, labels, sorted-material examples, and an explanation of the proposed improvement.
Large Labeled Improvement Drawing — Draw the school improvement in context and label its users, parts, function, and Earth-care benefits.
