How this Plan uses your files

All named student tasks in both PDFs are inventoried in source order. In the Scholars Studios framework, the Unit 2 “Make Your Case” task is selected and Units 1, 3, 4, and 5 are omitted because the user explicitly selected Unit 2. The complete 16-lesson Animal Farm/Studio sequence is retained and distributed in prerequisite order across the five fixed phases. Lesson 13’s literary argument paragraph is expanded into the required MLA-formatted Animal Farm–Studio solution essay, and the source’s individual pitch options are adapted into the required collaborative 2–3 minute pitch and public defense. To fit 15 class meetings rather than the source’s 16, adjacent lessons may be combined within their assigned phases, with advance or supported reading especially for Chapters 4–5 and 7–8. The PDFs include prompts, project directions, checkpoints, notes, and rubrics, but they do not include the full Animal Farm text, research sources, HMH materials, an LMS, or presentation technology.

  • Unit 1 Suggested Task: Explain Yourself Campaign (or Gallery): Excluded because the user explicitly selected Unit 2, and this Unit 1 explanatory campaign does not contribute directly to the required Animal Farm–Studio argument products.
  • Unit 3 Suggested Task: Comparative Reflection: Excluded because the user explicitly selected Unit 2 and the three-week plan must prioritize the complete Animal Farm argument sequence, research, essay, and pitch.
  • Unit 4 Suggested Task: Narrative in Performance: Excluded because it is a Unit 4 narrative task rather than the selected Unit 2 persuasion project and cannot be added within the fixed three-week timeframe.
  • Unit 5 Suggested Task: Make an Impact: Excluded as a separate Unit 5 task because the selected Unit 2 Make Your Case project already addresses a Studio-connected problem and solution; adding another investigation would duplicate the required product and exceed available time.

Take a Stand
Students will analyze how arguments gain power in Chapters 1–5 of Animal Farm, transfer those insights to a Studio-connected controversy identified with career-partner input, and take an initial evidence-based position. They will submit a Studio Issue Proposal, refine its claim through peer critique, evaluate an initial research source, and assemble a two-source Research and Evidence Board that prepares them for the next phase.

Showcase
Students will present and publicly defend their Studio solutions before classmates and available Studio career partners, drawing on the Unit 2 “Make Your Case” investigation. After submitting the completed MLA-formatted essay and evidence portfolio (3 minutes) and setting up visuals (5 minutes), teams deliver 2–3 minute pitches and answer at least one audience question during a 55-minute showcase. When not presenting, students serve on audience panels and record the proposed change, convincing evidence, remaining concern, and support decision on a teacher-reproduced paper or digital evaluation form. Students conclude with a 15-minute individual journal reflection identifying their strongest persuasive strategy, explaining why their evidence was trustworthy, and contrasting their ethical persuasion with Napoleon’s or Squealer’s methods.
