Launch
Students will investigate clues linking human choices to invasive-species spread, practice safe observation and evidence reasoning, and develop an initial CER and questions that guide later research.
Days 1 - 2
Research & Plan
Research & Plan
Students will refine an invasive-species mystery into a focused investigation question, evaluate reliable sources, compare safe observation methods, and prepare an evidence-collection plan. They will use peer, family, teacher, or community-partner feedback to revise their method and submit an initial evidence-based CER as a planning milestone.
Days 3 - 8
Collect & Check
Collect & Check
Students will collect safe, traceable evidence about a chosen invasive species or habitat change, check that evidence against maps and reliable sources, and improve their investigation methods through community, peer, and teacher feedback.
Days 9 - 13
Analyze & Revise
Analyze & Revise
Students will analyze patterns and limitations in their evidence, evaluate competing responses to invasive species, and revise their CER, PSA, supporting visual, and reflection through peer, family, expert, and teacher feedback.
Days 14 - 18
Showcase
Showcase
Students will refine their invasive-species messages through remote peer and community feedback, present their evidence-based PSAs to an authentic audience, defend their conclusions, and submit a final portfolio with a reflection on changes in their thinking and choices.
