Learning Goals
Students will be able to formulate focused questions about community helpers, their tools, skills, workplaces, and teamwork to guide a shared investigation.
Students will be able to collect and document observations from school walks, community visits, guest interviews, and stories to distinguish what was directly observed from what is inferred.
Students will be able to classify community jobs, tools, skills, and helping actions to identify patterns in how different helpers support community well-being.
Students will be able to explain how a community helper uses a specific tool, skill, or teamwork to meet a community need using evidence from the investigation.
Students will be able to dramatize a short community-helper story that identifies a character, setting, major event, and similarity between the helper and themselves.
Students will be able to collaborate to create and revise props, gestures, spoken lines, a picture chart, and a video presentation that accurately communicate shared findings and remaining questions.

Community Helper Picture Investigation Notebook and Recorded Job Explanation
Each student creates a teacher-scaffolded notebook containing a focused question, drawings and dictated notes from multiple sources, classifications, a conclusion, a dramatic-story plan, prop revisions, and reflection. The student then records a clear line naming a job, tool or skill, supporting evidence, and how the work helps people.
Our Town Helpers Video Investigation and Picture-Chart Exhibit
Teams synthesize individual evidence into a student-led video, revised job-tool-helping chart, safe student-made props, and short dramatic scenes for the Our Town Helper Showcase. The presentation explains the investigation method, patterns and conclusions, notes observations that differed or remain uncertain, and poses a new question for future investigation.
