Students will launch an investigation of how school and neighborhood helpers use tools, skills, and teamwork by observing real workplaces, documenting evidence with pictures, and developing questions for future visits.

Students will learn to distinguish observations from guesses, generate focused questions, explore school-helper workplaces, compare ways to gather information, and create a picture-based plan for investigating how helpers use tools, skills, and teamwork.

Students will systematically collect and label picture evidence from school staff, a nearby business, and a parent or community helper, distinguishing observations and reported information from guesses. They will revise notebook entries and a shared class chart through partner feedback, then complete an evidence milestone before beginning pattern analysis.

Students will organize picture and dictated evidence from prior investigations, compare helpers, identify patterns and exceptions, and use evidence to form a preliminary conclusion. They will revise their reasoning through peer feedback and document an uncertain idea and a new question for later investigation.

Students will transform evidence from their investigation into accurate spoken lines, dramatic scenes, safe props, and a revised picture chart. They will use two rounds of peer feedback to improve their communication before recording individual contributions to the community helpers video.

Students will prepare exhibit explanations, present their community-helper investigation to families and community partners, and reflect on evidence, growth, teamwork, and remaining questions.
