Learning Goals

1

Students will be able to synthesize evidence from Articles I–III of the Constitution and landmark government examples to explain how the legislative, executive, and judicial branches use duties, limits, overlaps, and checks to balance power and protect democracy.

2

Students will be able to justify collaborative design decisions for a responsibly produced and presented cereal box by connecting audience feedback to revisions, crediting evidence and images, and balancing creative freedom with safe and ethical practices.

Constitutional Evidence, Audience Research, and Cereal-Box Panel Prototype Portfolio

Each student annotates short constitutional and landmark-example evidence, gathers firsthand feedback from an intended fair visitor, develops multiple panel concepts, and tests and refines one individual prototype. The portfolio includes a brief design rationale and daily written or recorded reflection connecting checks and balances to democracy.

Three Branches Cereal Box and Democracy Breakfast Fair Presentation

Teams use individual research and prototypes to create a shared audience-centered design brief and a decorated cereal box whose front, back, and side panels explain the duties, limits, overlaps, and checks of all three branches with cited evidence. Teams document revisions and present the responsibly produced box at the Democracy Breakfast Fair for stakeholder questions, feedback, and peer voting.
