Launch
Launch
Students will launch an investigation of how plant and animal structures function in local habitats by making systematic observations, distinguishing evidence from inference, generating questions, and revising early claims through respectful peer feedback.
Days 1 - 2
Question & Plan
Question & Plan
Students will compare Structure Safari evidence, refine an investigable question, and create a peer-reviewed plan for observing how plant and animal structures function in a local habitat.
Days 3 - 6
Collect & Document
Collect & Document
Students will calibrate observation methods, gather safe and traceable evidence about plant and animal structures, document animal sensory-response evidence with community experts, and complete a peer-reviewed evidence packet for later analysis and model building.
Days 7 - 10
Analyze & Revise
Analyze & Revise
Students will analyze observation evidence, model an animal sensory-response pathway, and use repeated feedback to revise their CER explanations and paired structure stations before the Survival Structure Gallery Walk.
Days 11 - 14
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present and defend their paired plant-and-animal structure models and CER explanations to an authentic audience, use feedback to revise their conclusions, and reflect on how evidence and collaboration strengthened their investigation.
