Students will launch the investigation by examining how different memorial forms communicate history, suffering, resistance, and remembrance, then generate initial evidence-based questions about a genocide or oppression case they may study.

Students will investigate a memorial mystery through dialogue, source analysis, and trauma-informed reflection, then develop and peer-review a focused research question, hypothesis, and methodology plan for their genocide or oppression case study.

Analyze & Present
Students will synthesize research into visual evidence displays, test their interpretations through structured peer critique, and produce a graded symposium product plan that explains patterns, contradictions, resistance, and memorialization choices.
Days 6 - 8
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their memorialization projects to an authentic audience, explain and defend their evidence-based interpretation of oppression, resistance, and remembrance, and complete a brief written reflection connecting their learning to present-day bias and action.
