Students will be able to analyze the causes of the Great Depression by evaluating speculation, tariffs, bank failures, and Federal Reserve policy using primary and secondary sources.
Students will be able to investigate how the Great Depression affected different groups of Americans, including workers, farmers, women, children, and people of Mexican heritage, using local and national evidence.
Students will be able to compare New Deal policies and critics' alternatives by examining how each approach addressed the economic crisis and the role of government.
Students will be able to evaluate the lasting impact of New Deal agencies such as the FDIC, SEC, and Social Security Administration on U.S. citizens today by connecting policy to current life.

Great Depression Investigation Notebook
Students will maintain a research notebook that documents question development, source analysis, notes, evidence sorting, and a personal claim about the Great Depression and New Deal. The notebook must show how the student used primary and secondary sources to build and revise interpretations.
Community Great Depression Timeline or Digital Story Map
Teams will create a public-facing timeline or story map that synthesizes local archival evidence into a defensible explanation of the Great Depression’s causes, impacts, and New Deal responses. The final product must include visuals, captions or narration, and a clear discussion of disagreements, anomalies, and policy legacies.
