Students will launch the investigation by sorting visual clues about native plants, invasive species, and habitat change, then use acted scenes and drawings to notice how those changes affect food, shelter, and places people use. They will begin asking simple investigable questions and use peer feedback to revise their first ideas about what evidence to collect next.

Students will sort visual evidence from nursery photos, seed packets, texts, and home observations; compare before-and-after habitat scenes; ask a focused investigable question; and create a simple evidence-collection plan they can revise after peer feedback before moving into observation work.

Students will collect and organize evidence in their investigation notebooks, build a simple habitat-protection communication model, test and compare model choices, and complete a midpoint quality check to make sure their records clearly connect observations to claims about habitat change.

Students will analyze patterns in their investigation records, compare how native and invasive species affect habitats and community spaces, revise their explanations and communication products through peer feedback, and prepare evidence-based public-facing displays and performances for the final showcase.

Students will present their habitat protection models and invasion-change explanations to families and community guests, use evidence from their notebooks and displays to answer questions, compare communication tools, and reflect on how their observations, revisions, and teamwork improved their final work.
