Launch
Launch
Students will launch the regular pentagon challenge by comparing rough and precise construction attempts, practicing safe compass-and-straightedge moves, and setting early quality criteria for what counts as an accurate figure. They will begin the daily reflection-and-revision routine by identifying a specific construction error, revising it at the next class start, and documenting how arcs, intersections, and labeled steps improve precision.
Days 1 - 2
Research & Plan
Research & Plan
Students will investigate and compare regular pentagon construction methods, define measurable quality criteria and constraints, draft a design brief, and build a repeatable set of check steps they will use in later prototype testing and revision.
Days 3 - 6
Decide & Prototype
Decide & Prototype
Students will compare multiple regular-pentagon construction sequences, choose one with a weighted decision matrix, build and test rapid prototypes, and revise based on evidence from repeated construction checks and peer critique.
Days 7 - 10
Revise & Showcase
Revise & Showcase
Students will analyze prototype evidence, revise weak construction steps in a regular pentagon method, retest with the same checks, and assemble a before-and-after engineering story for the Geometry Blueprint Museum.
Days 11 - 14
Showcase
Showcase
Students will present their revised regular pentagon work to peers, families, and Ian in the Geometry Blueprint Museum, defend how their construction met project criteria, contribute to the class exhibit booklet, and complete a brief evidence-based reflection on how their precision improved over time.
